QUESTION: I have a question about routers to use in my house. I have a laptop and there seems to be so many different speeds of routers out there and I don't want to lose download and upload speeds, by buying the wrong one, any help? Judy

Hi Judy, I will tell you about the ones that I am familiar with and use myself. Belkin, Linksys, D-Link, Netgear. I would recommend that they be 802.11 b & g compatible and have 54 Mbps speed or 108Mbps speed. These will work fine in a home network. A sales person will know what I am talking about. Most any electronics store will sell them, but I would check www.salescircular.com to see who is having a sale. You can buy a router for between $10 on sale up to about $35 depending on the rebates. QUESTION: Every time I leave the internet I get an internet explorer pop up stating it has encountered a problem and must shutdown, but I am off the internet. Any way to fix this?

This might sound strange, but it could be something as simple as restarting your computer. Read this article I wrote a while back. www.rverscomputerhelp.com/restart.html Larry

Windows Vista Tip

Here is a cool tip for making your computer look and perform the way you want it to. Using your keyboard, press the Windows key, (That is the one with the little flag on it), then press the U key. A Ease of Access window will appear with lots of cool options. Give it a try.

RV Survey Update

Last month in the newsletter I published an update to the RV survey page. So many of you took the survey, that I had to do another update. You can see it here, www.rvinginfo.com/survey.html. I think the most interesting thing is the increase in the number of people who travel with there computer. A few years ago when I started the survey, there were more that traveled without it. It looks like this computer thing is going to catch on. (Grin)

New Survey (GPS)

I am going to start a new survey page regarding GPS systems and how many travel with them. We would also like to know the brand name of the unit. If you would like to participate, just email us with that information at gps@rvinginfo.com We will publish the information just as soon as we hear from a few of you.

Outlook Express and Windows Mail

These two mail boxes are probably the most used mailboxes by computer users. They have a lot of features that you should be aware of in order to get the most out of them. One way to make yourself familiar with them is to browse through the options feature. To do this, click on Tools at the top of the page and select Options from the drop down menu. Click on the tabs at the top to discover the different options and settings. You do not have to change anything your first time through, but become familiar with the setting boxes. This is just one more way to make good use of your computer.
