The New Windows Vista

Some where at the end of this month, Microsoft will release it's new operating system to the public. If you would like to check it out and see some of the new features, you can at www.windowsvistatestdrive.com. You have to have Internet Explorer 6 or higher and you must download a quick active X program, you can then test drive Vista without downloading it. It really does have some cool new features. When released it will sale for about $199 to $399, depending on what version you want. From information I have been able to gather, it looks like the best way to get Vista, is installed in a new computer. One thing that it is going to require in order to work properly is a new graphics card, that most of us do not have in our present computers. To find out if your computer is ready for Vista, go here to run a test. You may be required to download a small Active X program.

ChaCha.com

This is a fairly new search site, it works pretty much like any other search engine, except this one goes a little farther than the others and offers a live search. You can search with the help of a live guide. Give it a try here,  www.chacha.com

Internet Explorer 7 tip

One of the really cool features of Internet explorer 7 is that you can change the size of everything you see on your screen, simply by clicking a different size in the lower right of your screen. You should see a small magnifying glass and next to it 100% and next to that a small black down arrow. Click on the down arrow and you can select from 50% to 400%. Give it a try, it really helps when you are on one of those web sites with the really small print. Here is what you are looking for,

How to find out if you have a virus or spyware (Repeat)

This is worth repeating, we have a lot of new subscribers and no way of knowing their computer skill levels. In the right column of this newsletter you will see some helpful programs. Two of them are Spybot and Avast, if you download them and run them on your computer, they will tell you if your computer is infected. Spybot is for spyware and avast is for viruses. AVG antivirus and Microsoft Windows Antispyware are also good.

Computer term (Optimize)

To tune up your computer so everything is in tip-top shape. For example, optimizing your hard disk includes running a maintenance check, scanning it for viruses, and defragmenting your hard disk.
