Is your computer a friend or a dirty name??

I was looking through some of the articles that I have written over the past few years and ran across this one. Even though it was written a while back, it still applies to today's computer's. In fact there are a lot more compatibility problems with today's computer's. Take a look at it, heed the warnings that are there. www.rverscomputerhelp.com/article.html

Use a Web graphic for your desktop background

This is a simple little trick that you might have missed. Sometimes the most obviuos is the hardest to notice. When you are on a web site and you see something that you would like to make as your desktop background, just right click on it and choose "Set as Background". That's it, now you have a new background.

Speed up menu Display (Windows XP)

Microsoft Windows XP uses many visual effects to provide a rich, friendly interface. One of these settings allows menus to fade into view when you open them. This visual effect is so smooth that you may never have noticed it; however, the effect does cause menus to take a little longer to appear. On a fast computer, this shouldn't be an issue. But on a computer that isn’t responding as quickly as you'd like, you can make menus display faster.

  • Click Start. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
  • Click the Advanced tab. In the Performance area, click Settings.
  • On the Visual Effects tab in the Performance Options dialog box, clear the Fade or slide menus into view check box.
  • Click OK.
  • In the System Properties dialog box, click OK.

    Library Book Search (WorldCat)

Here is a web site that allows you to search for library books in your own area. You can even put the search on your computer if you would like to make the search more convenient. Although I found using this search a little confusing, after a while I got the hang of it. I was able to locate several books at my local library, searching author or book title. Give it a try, it can be very helpful. www.worldcat.org
