How to Speedup Browsing FoldersYou may have noticed that everytime you open my computer to browse folders that there is a slight delay. This is because Windows XP automatically searches for network files and printers when you open Windows explorer. To stop XP from doing this follow the instructions below.You should see an increase in speed. If for some reason you would like to put the settings back the way they were, just reverse the proceedure.
Turning on ClearTypeWindows XP has a feature called ClearType. This text rendering method exists to smooth the appearance of the on-screen text. To try this method:This works pretty good on LCD monitors, but it can also work on regular monitors as well. Try it, if you don't like it, reverse the proceedure to put things back like they were.
Cool Web Site (Joost)I ran across this web site the other day and decided to give it a try. So far it works pretty well. You can get their free download and watch recorded TV shows as well as some old movies. The picture quality is pretty good, every once in a while the picture will stutter depending on your Internet connection speed. If you have a dialup connection, don't even try it. How to turn on the on-screen keyboardWindows comes with an on-screen keyboard if you ever need one. Lets say that your regular keyboard goes nuts and you are not able to use it for some reason. Until you can find a fix, you can use the on-screen keyboard by using your mouse to press the keys. Here is how to turn it on, Go to Start, Run and type in OSK and click OK.
