Google weather Tip

You can get a four day weather report for most any City, by typing weather and the city name in the Google search window. EXAMPLE: weather los angeles, give it a try,  www.google.com

QUESTION:Hi... I just bought a new lap top computer, and need some virus protection... I remember you saying their were some free ones out there... Do you recommend the free ones or should I go to Macafee or Norton, or some other one/? thanks. Dorothy

I would use the free one's, I personally do not like McAfee or Norton. There are two listed in the right column of this newsletter. www.avast.com  and www.grisoft.com  Larry

Reinstalling System Restore (Windows XP)

If you ever need to reinstall System Restore, this tip will guide you though the process. It has happened to me on the computer I just replaced. Follow the outlined procedures below
  • Go to Start>> Run. Type in: %Windir%\INF
  • Scroll the list to find the SR.INF file
  • Once found, right click the SR.INF file
  • Select Install
    Windows will now start the System Restore reinstallation. Restart Windows when the procedure has completed.

    Turning off the Newly Installed Software popup (Windows XP)

    If you would like to turn off the popup that alerts you to newly installed software, here's how
  • Right click the Start button>> Properties>> Start Menu tab>> Customize button.
  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Under the "Start menu settings" category, uncheck the entry titled "Highlight newly installed programs".
  • Click OK, then OK once again.
