Question: Is there a way to turn off unused icon popup??

Windows XP has a popup that appears in the lower right of the screen stating that there are unused icons on your desktop. This only appears every once in a while, but can be annoying. To disable the automatic hiding of icons, right-click on a empty area of the Taskbar. Select the Properties item at the bottom of the menu. On the Taskbar tab, you can uncheck the Hide Inactive Icons item at the bottom of that window.

Windows Vista Icon Resize Tip

Here is a cool feature that Windows Vista offers. To resize your desktop icons, just highlight one of the icons while holding down the Ctrl key. Now just scroll your mouse and you can make your icons larger or smaller depending on which direction you scroll your mouse.

Windows XP vs Windows Vista

Here is a article detailing the results of a recent benchmark test done between XP and Vista. I am not trying to discourage anyone from getting Vista, I just want you to be aware of what the industry has to say about it. As you know I recently bought a new desktop with Vista on it. I have to say I was not pleased with it at first. I am still not thrilled with it, but at least it is performing a little better now that I am becoming more familiar with it. Check out this article, I think you will find it interesting. Article

Poor Grammar

I must apologize about the poor grammar that I often use in the newsletter. It has been pointed out by a couple of you that I make these types of mistakes often. I am not good with this and I am aware of it. I try to use a spell checker each week, but every once in a while a misspelled word gets through. I am trying to locate a word program that I can run the newsletter through to check for the bad grammar. I have Microsoft Word, but it does not do what I am looking for. If any of you have a suggestion, I would be grateful. Larry

Norton is turning off my firewall

Question: I have Norton Internet Security installed on my system and whenever I restart my computer it disables my Windows firewall. How can I stop this from happening?

Answer: Norton Internet Security has it's own firewall, you should not try to run two firewalls at the same time. This is one of many complaints I have heard about Norton Internet Security. Many experts advise not to run it on your computer.
