![]() Rvers Computer Help Newsletter 12-15-06
We are almost back to normal again with the newsletter. (I hope)Got connected to DSL finally, today 12-18-06. Tried to send the newsletter last Friday using a different ISP with no luck. Thanks for your patience!!!!!!!
Missing newslettersWe have gotten a few emails from some subscribers stating they have not gotten a few of the past newsletters. In most all cases their email addresses are still on the newsletter list. I suspect that many of the ISP's are getting very strict with their spam filters and may be classifying the newsletter as possible spam. I am not sure exactly how to solve this problem, if you feel you have missed some issues, let us know and we will resend them.

QUESTION--I have a wireless network set up in my RV. I have a desktop that is hooked up to a printer and a laptop that(of course) is not hooked up to the printer. How can I access my printer through my laptop?ANSWER--On the computer that has the printer connected to it, go to Start, Control Panel and click Printers and Faxes. Find the printer that you want to share and right click on it, select Sharing, when the window opens make sure you are at the Sharing tab and put a check mark at Share this Printer, note the share name, click Apply and OK. Now on the laptop, go to the control panel and click Printers and Faxes, in the left column, click Add a Printer and follow the Wizard directions.
QUESTION--The sound is not working on my computer, any suggestions?ANSWER--Couple things to try, if you have the speaker icon in the lower right corner of your screen, double click on it and check all the settings making sure the volume's are turned up and the sound is not muted. You can also click on options and check to see if volume has a check mark next to it.
QUESTION--When connected to WiFi, I am able to receive mail most of the time, but why can't I send mail?Usually in order to send mail, you would need to be connected to your ISP or Internet Service Provider. You will be able to receive email just by being connected to the Internet. When you are connected to the Internet on a WiFi network at an RV Park, you are actually using their Internet Service Provider, since you do not have an account with their provider, you can not send mail. However you should be able to send mail by going to your ISP's web site and using their web mail. I see you use Cox cable, so you would need to go to their web site either http://webmail.west.cox.net or http://webmail.east.cox.net depending where you live in the US, west or east. Just login with your username and password and use their mailbox to send mail, of course you can also receive your mail there too.
