Canon Camera RecallI received this email from Wayne and Linda, newsletter subscribers and thought I would pass it a long.We have a Canon Power Shot A60. The only reason I am telling you this is that we recently had a problem with it and were told by one camera repair outfit that we should just throw it away and get another. “They’re cheap now and not worth fixing.” Luckily I contacted the Canon service center here and they informed me that they had a “service advisory” (recall) on some models and to bring it in. We did and our camera was repaired for FREE! So, anyone with a Canon, before you toss them out have a check with an authorized service center first. Have a great Christmas…Wayne and Linda
RV SurveyI just updated the survey that we run on our Rving Info web site, www.rvinginfo.com/survey.html I thought some of you that are Rver's might find it interesting. We have had the survey for a couple years now, this update made some big changes. Motorhome users have gone down, 5th wheel users have gone up and travel trailers have gone down. Part time rvers are down, fulltime rvers are up and weekenders are down. Those that travel with their computers stayed about the same.
Windows Vista TipThose of you that are familiar with the Defragmenting feature that comes with Windows Operating Systems, know that when it is running, it can really slow your computer down. That is why it is important to schedule it to run when you are not using your computer. In Windows Vista, by default it is scheduled to run every few times that you start your computer. I would recommend that you uncheck the box that says "Run on a Schedule". To find this box, Left click on the My Computer icon, then right click on the C drive, choose Properties. Now click on the Tools tab and choose Defragment Now, when the next window opens, uncheck the box next to "Run Defragment on a Schedule", then click OK. Now you can run Defragment when you want it to run.
Windows Messenger (Windows XP)We have never done much with Windows Messenger, because most of the time people are asking how to shut it off. There are those that like to use it, so here is a Microsoft web site that tells you all about it and it's many uses. If you want to communicate with friends and relatives directly without using email, this is the way to do it. If you have a web cam connected to your computer, you can even look at each other as you talk. Check it out here, Windows Messenger
Beautify Your Boot Screen(Windows Vista)The boot screen built into Windows is functionally useless. Why not make it look prettier? Microsoft designed a built-in boot screen that replaces the animated start-up bar, it looks a whole lot better. To enable it, Click Start,All Programs, Accessories, Run. Type MSConfig into the Open box and click OK, under the Boot tab, select No GUI Boot.
