Windows Utilities ShortcutsThese shortcuts are for Windows XP, but some of them might also work with Windows Vista. Type these shortcuts into the Run box and click OK. In Windows XP, you will find the Run box by clicking on Start, then Run. In Windows Vista you will find the Run box by clicking on Start, All Programs, Accessories, then Run. Some of the information that you will find in these utilities might not be of importance to some of you and you might not even know what they mean. Again, like I have explained many times in the newsletter, it is very useful to know where to locate things on your computer in the event that someday you might need the information. It is just another way of becoming more familiar with your computer.
What is a IP address? Each computer that is connected to the Internet has a clearly identifiable, numeric address, the IP address, comprising four sequences of digits. An IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a unique address that certain electronic devices currently use in order to identify and communicate with each other on a computer network utilizing the Internet Protocol standard (IP)—in simpler terms, a computer address. If you would like to know what your IP address is and find out more about your IP address, just go to our web site, www.rverscomputerhelp.com and scroll down the left column, click on "Want to know your IP address".
Make Windows look the way you want (Windows XP)One of the fun things that you can do with Windows XP, is make it look the way you would like it to look. Microsoft has provided instructions and suggestions on how to do this. Have fun with it, Change your Look
QUESTION: Every time I want to save a photo or a pic (from internet) on my Hard Disk I can save it only in BMP format and, with no name. How can I fix this??Try this solution, delete your Internet Temporary files. To do so, in Internet Explorer, select TOOLS on the top bar. Select Internet Options on the opening menu. In the opening box, click on delete Internet Temporary Files. If you have never done this it may take a minute or so to delete these files. Deleting temp files is something you should do on a regular basis.
Windows Vista speed upMany of you might remember me telling you that Bobbi and I recently bought new desktops with Windows Vista on them. You might also remember that I told you that Bobbi hates Windows Vista because it is so slow. Mine is also slow, but not as bad as hers. We do different things on our computers. One of her complaints is when she is making greeting cards, it takes twice as long as it did with Windows XP. Our computers both came with 1gb of memory, I recently bought another 2gb chip for Bobbi's computer and it has made a big difference in performance and speed. It seems that even if 1gb of memory is the recommended minimum, it is still not enough. I would recommend adding more memory if your Windows Vista seems slow and of course if you are in the market for a new computer, I would recommend that you get one with at list 2gb of memory already in it.
