Windows Vista

As you probably already know, Windows Vista has been released and is available at most any store that sells computers. What you might not know, is many computers that are a couple years old and older will probably need some sort of upgrade to run Windows Vista properly. This could cost a few hundred dollars depending on what type upgrade you will need. The first upgrade that most of us will need is a new graphics card, many more will need more memory or a bigger hard drive. Even after the upgrades are installed, there is no guarantee that everything will go smoothly with the installation of Windows Vista. Most experts are recommending that if you want Windows Vista, buy a new computer that already has it installed. Of course this is nothing new, that recommendation has been made every time a new version of Windows has been introduced. Bobbi and I both would have to make several upgrades to make Windows Vista work properly on our desktop computers. We have already decided to wait until we decide to buy new computers. Our laptops may be a different story, they are new enough that it might be alright to install the new Windows Vista without a major upgrade. If we decide to install the new Windows on one of the laptops, we will let you know how it went.

Paint.net

I get a lot of requests for a good image and photo editor. Here is one I discovered recently and I am really impressed with it. It has a lot of super features, is easy to use. You can modify images, resize and optimize photos, draw, clone and much more. Best of all, it is freeware, the makers will accept donations, if you feel like giving something for it. It also has a tutorial section listed under Help at the top of the page. You can download it here  Paint.net

Radio Button (Basic)

What is a radio button? Well this is really pretty basic for those of you that have taken this newsletter for a few years, but we must remember that everyday there is someone who has just purchased their first computer and have no idea what a radio button is. We have always tried to gear the newsletter and the web sites toward the beginner and the little more advanced computer user. So those of you who need to know what a radio button is, here is a illustration, www.rvinginfo.com/radiobutton.html

Adding an address window to your task bar

Having another address window besides the one on you toolbar is very handy. In order to use the address window on your toolbar, you must have a page of some sort up on the screen. With the address window on your task bar, you can use it right from the desktop. A refresher for new computer users, the "Toolbar" is located at the top of a web page and the "Taskbar" is located at the bottom of your screen, even if there is no web page up. I have written a short tutorial on how to put the Address Window on your taskbar, just follow this link, www.rvinginfo.com/taskaddress.html

Missing Newsletter's

I am not sure what is going on lately, but it seems like every week I get email's from subscribers saying they didn't receive the newsletter, including my wife. I send one to her email box every week, just to make sure it went out okay. This week it went into the bulk mail folder and I suspect that some of the others are having the same thing happen. The newsletter goes out most of the time on every Friday, so if you don't find it, check your junk mail folder or bulk mail folder.

Computer term (Web Ring)

A Web ring is a way of interlinking related Web sites so that people can visit many similar Web sites by just following the "Web ring" link on each page. Most Web rings allow people to browse backwards or forwards through the sites in the ring, or choose to visit individual sites from a list.

(AD) Cool electronic devices for your home or RV

Send audio or video from one TV to another TV wirelessly. Send your Tivo to another room or even DirecTV, all wirelessly. Our son bought this and loves the way it works.

Or maybe you would like to automate all the appliances in your house or RV with this device. Turn on lights, dim lights, prearrange when a appliance comes on. Take a look at both of these electronic devices here, www.rverscomputerhelp.com/audiovideo.html
