WinBubble for Windows Vista

Many of you that have Windows XP or earlier versions of Windows, are familiar with TweakUI. TweakUI allowed you to make changes to your computer without having to mess with the registry. Unfortunately there was nothing like this for Windows Vista. Several companies have come out with things that are similiar to TweakUI, but most charge for them. WinBubble is free and it does not install on your computer, just unzip the file and click on WinBubbles.exe. It has a bunch of things that you can change on your computer. Read the instructions carefully and see if there is anything that might be useful to you. There is also some tips and tricks on their web site. You can download it and check it out here. WinBubble

Carry a flash drive around, instead of a laptop

You can put many applications from your laptop onto a flash drive and carry it with you. When you are at a friends or relatives house, just plug your flash drive into their computer. I have found that a 4gb flash drive is capable of storing a lot of stuff such as pictures and programs. You can put Open Office on the flash drive, photo editing software, games and much more. I have seen 4gb flash drives for as low as $20, usually around $30. If you would like to get really fancy, you can install free MoJoPac on your flash drive and give it a Desktop, My Documents and My Computer icons. You can take a look at a demo of MoJoPac here, MoJoPac Check www.salescircular.com  to see what the best prices are in your area for a flash drive.

System Restore (Reminder)

I get lots of questions from people that are having problems with their computers. I welcome all questions and enjoy trying to find solutions for them. One of the first things I advise people to do, is to run System Restore. Windows XP and Vista both have this tool. In both you will find it located under Accessories on the Programs menu. After locating Accessories, just click on System Tools. Follow the instructions of the System Restore Wizard. In many cases this will solve the problems, if you notice that you have lost any recently installed programs after using System Restore, that might be a clue as to what caused the problem in the first place. If this is the case search for the Capatibility Wizard under Help and Support to see if you can reinstall the program that way.
