Tile your windows

You can open more than one window with Windows XP and they will appear on your desktop. You can also arrange them so that the title bar for each will over lap so you can see what windows you have up on the screen. You can click on the title bar of window that is underneath and it will pop to the top of the stack. This is called tiling. Open up several windows and follow these steps.
To tile your windows:
  • Right-click the taskbar. (Located at the bottom of your screen) A menu will appear.
  • Click Tile Windows Horizontally or Tile Windows Vertically, whichever you prefer.

    Picasa

In last weeks newsletter, I told of a photo editing program called Paint.net, sense I have received emails from several newsletter subscribers advising of another editing program called Picasa. This program is free from Google and is very useful. Not only does it allow photo editing, but it will locate every photo on your computer, many that I am sure you have forgotten about. Give it a try, http://picasa.google.com

    Google Pack (Windows XP)

Google offers this free google pack download of software that is designed to keep your computer running good and making it more fun to use. Take a look at the software that is included, check those that you would like and uncheck those that you don't want.Google Pack

    Hide those desktop icons

Here is a neat little trick that you can do with Windows XP. If you are doing print screening for some sort of presentation such as in Power Point, hide those icons so they don't show in the graphic. Here is how, right click on your desktop, choose "Arrange Icons By" and click on "Show Desktop Icons", this will remove the check mark, wait a few seconds and the desktop will reappear without the icons. To put them back, just reverse the process.

    Computer term (Joe Job)

A form of e-mail spoofing where someone uses your e-mail server to send mass quantities of e-mails. Usually owners and administrators of the e-mail server will become aware of the spoofing when they receive more than the usual quantities of failed delivery notices. The phrase Joe Job was coined by an attack at a web site (joes.com) in January of 1997. A spammer using the free services of this web site had been barred from use and sought revenge against those responsible. The spammer's revenge was felt across the Web in attempt to enrage recipients into taking action against the company's Web site, which, indeed they did. Source--www.webopedia.com
