What is your IP Address? You may never need to know what your IP address is, but as you know, the purpose of this newsletter is to make you aware of things pertaining to your computer, other than just using it to get email and send email. First click on IP address for an explanation of what an IP address is. Now to find out what your IP address is, go to Start, Run, type in CMD and click OK. A window with a black screen will come up, you will see a blinking cursor. Type in "ipconfig" without the quotation marks and press Enter on your keyboard. A list of things should appear containing your IP address. Now if you are ever ask, or if you just want to show off to a friend or relative, you will be able to show them how to find their IP address. Viewing your Browser History (Internet Explorer 7) If you would like to find out the web sites that you have visited, assuming you haven't erased them, just press Ctrl + H on your keyboard. If you would like to delete the history, just follow these instructions. You will see two Tools at the top of your screen, choose the one you see below. As you can see, not only can you delete the browsing history, but you can adjust lots of other things from this menu.
Using Google Gmail Keyboard Shortcuts Here are the instructions for turning on the keyboard shortcuts in your Gmail account. To find a full set of shortcuts, check here Add or Remove Programs I read this question the other day and thought I should mention it to everyone. QUESTION: In my add or remove programs, I see lots of Security Updates that I know must be taking a lot of my computer memory, can I delete these? The answer is NO!, if you delete these updates that have been installed by Microsoft, you are opening your computer to possible attacks. These are updates that Microsoft issues to plug security holes that are found in their system, they are best left alone. A quick way to add a web site to your favorites. A fast way to add a web page to your favorites, or bookmarks (depending on what browser you use) is to hold down the CTRL key and press the D key once. A window should popup prompting you to add the web site. Go ahead and give it a try. Computer term (Incremental Backup) Backing up only the files that have changed since your last backup, instead of backing up every single file on your computer.
