Windows XP Automatic Updates
I got this question the other day. "I have auto updates turned on, but when I manually checked for updates the other day, there were some that had not downloaded and installed, WHY?There are two kinds of Windows XP Updates: recommended and critical. You can set Windows to install critical updates automatically, and still require user interaction to install recommended updates. If you do, the critical updates will be installed, but the recommended updates will not be installed until you decide to install them. To make sure your auto updates are turned on, go to the control panel, click on Automatic Updates and check the settings. Every once in a while go to your All Programs menu, you will find Windows Updates toward the top of the menu. Click on it to see if there are other updates available that you would like to download.
Paint.net Update
In an earlier newsletter, I told you about Paint.net, a free program that you can download here, http://www.getpaint.net/index2.html (copy and paste). If you have downloaded Paint.net and it was version 3.01, you can open paint and click on Help at the top of the page, then click on Check for Updates to download the updated version 3.05.
