Stop those big downloads

If you are using dialup and have people sending you emails that contain big downloads, you can stop them if you are using Outlook Express. In Outlook Express, create a rule: Select Tools, Message Rules, Mail, and then scroll through the conditions and check "Where the message size is more than size". In the Select actions for your rule menu, scroll to and check "Do not Download it from the server". In the Rule Description box, click the size link, set the maximum allowed message size, and click OK twice. About 1000KB would be suitable.

The Firefox Toolbar for eBay
If you are a Firefox user and an ebay user, here is a handy toolbar from Firefox. This toolbar allows you access to Ebay from any web page by using the toolbar at the top of the page. Here is a way to find out information about the hardware that is connected to your computer.

Got o Start and click on Help and Support
Under Pick a Task, click on Use Tools
In the left column, click on My Computer Information
Click on Find information about hardware installed on this computer
Wait for the results

How much stuff you can send through a connection. Usually measured in bits-per-second (bps.) A full page of English text is about 16,000 bits. A fast modem can move about 57,000 bits in one second. Full-motion full-screen video would require roughly 10,000,000 bits-per-second, depending on compression.
