Saving your Favorites to a Flash DriveI get lots of emails on how to save your Favorites to a Flash Drive. This will also work for saving your bookmarks in Firefox. Go to search and enter Favorites, find the Favorites folder, right click on it and send it to the flash drive. If you have Firefox, search for Bookmarks.
Customize the taskbar(Windows Vista)
You can customize your taskbar, (the bar at the bottom of your screen) in Windows Vista. There are a number of things that you can do to it that might make using your computer more to your liking. An easy way to find out what these are is to click on your Start button in the lower left of your screen and then click Control Panel. In the upper right of your screen type in "Customize the Taskbar. A window will appear, under Taskbar and Start Menu, click on Customize the Taskbar. There you will find several things that you can do to the taskbar. At the bottom of that window you will see "How do I Customize the Taskbar", click on it and you will find more options.
Check your download speed
Knowing your download speed can alert you to computer problems. If you have a dialup Internet connection you can expect to see a low download speed. If you have a broadband connection you should see much faster speeds. You can go to this web page to see more and find three places to check your speed. www.rverscomputerhelp.com/downloadspeed.html
Free software programsI have listed a bunch of free software programs in the past and I have many more that I would like to list. The problem is there are so many bad ones out there now that it takes a lot of testing on my part before I feel safe in telling you about them. I have gone to many web sites that refer free programs, many of them are very popular web sites and seem to know what they are talking about. Problem is many of these programs contain ads or toolbars or other things that are attached to them. Recently I downloaded a free program for keeping your computer safe while using WiFi connections while traveling. Problem is there is a very large ad banner that appears at the top of every web page you go to. I would love to recommend this program, but I hate the idea of the ad banner. Many of you have emailed about free programs that you have downloaded and are happy with. Some check out to be pretty good, free from attachments and I pass them a long. I just wanted you to know I am working hard to bring these free programs to you, so watch for them. If any of you have free programs that you know to be clean and think our readers would like to know about them, please email the info about them.
Email sending problemsEver sent an email and it just won't go? I think we have all experienced this problem. Believe it or not, the biggest cause of this is that the Internet connection has been lost. While we are straining to find the problem, the Internet connection reconnects without us knowing it and the next time we try to send the email, it goes. So before you check any where else, check your Internet connection. Another problem is you send an email to someone you have sent many emails to in the past and it comes back undeliverable. It is possible that you typed the email address wrong, but suppose you didn't type the address, you just retrieved it from the address book. It could be that the address somehow changed it's self, weird but it can happen. Delete and re-enter the address and give it another try.
