What is happening to Windows XP?

There have been a lot of reports over the last few months about what Microsoft is going to do with Windows XP. Here is a letter from the Senior Vice President of Microsoft Corporation, addressed to Windows Customers. This should explain it all www.microsoft.com/windows/letter.html

Make Windows XP and Windows Vista run better

I wrote an article regarding this, you can check it out here.

Using Rver's Computer Help Tools

Over the years our computer help web site has archived a wealth of information on maintaining your computer, how to use your computer, keeping you up to date on new information about software, hardware, etc. There is so much information available at our web site,(Approx. 400+ pages) that if you just make use of three sections, you will be way a head of the average computer user. These sections are the search of our web site, www.rverscomputerhelp.com , the articles page www.rverscomputerhelp.com/articles.html  and the newsletter archives,
www.rverscomputerhelp.com/archives.html
. To use the search, just go to the bottom of the first page and enter most anything you want about computers and there is a good chance you will find the information you need. The articles link is on the first page in the left column highlighted in blue. The newsletter archives link is in the right column on the first page of the web site.

Free RV Listings (Updated)

We are trying something new at our web sites. We will be offering RVer's a way to list their RV for free on our two RV web sites. You can see a listing now by clicking on this link, www.rverscomputerhelp.com/rvad.html If you are interested in listing an RV, just click on the ad in the left column on the ad page. This is an experiment at this point, if we don't run into any legal problems or some unforeseen problem we will continue it. We have added another listing for a 5th Wheel Trailer, you can check it out here,
www.rverscomputerhelp.com/rvad2.html
We have added still another listing for a Travel Trailer, you can see it here

Making use of Windows XP free tools

There are a couple tools that were offered with Windows XP, that I really miss not having on my Windows Vista computer. If you are using Windows XP you should really have these free tools. The first one is a image resizer, after it is installed, all you have to do is right click on an image or photo and click on "resize Image. A window will come up with the options available. This is a very important tool if you send photos in an email. The other tool is TweakUI, after it is installed, it will appear in the Control Panel. This tool will allow you to make some very convenient changes to some computer settings. When you open it, the directions are pretty easy to follow. You can get both of these free tools by clicking on Windows XP Power Toys in the right column of this newsletter.

Windows Vista (Aero Feature)

This feature has to do with minimized pages that appear in the task bar at the bottom of your screen. In past Windows versions the only thing that was visible was a page title. In Windows Vista by holding your mouse pointer over the page title in the task bar, a thumbnail picture of the page appears, making it easier to identify the page. This feature is not available with Windows Vista Basic.

Microsoft Office (Free Alternative)

I have mentioned this before, but like to rerun it every once in a while for some of the new subscribers. It seems for just about every high priced piece of software, there is a free alternative that has many of the same features of the more expensive one. One of these is Open Office, to read more about it, follow this link,

Windows Vista Tip

If you want a quick way to check information about your computer, just press the Windows Key + the Pause Key. Here you will find helpful information.
