Newsletter Subscriptions

This is the time of year that many of you get back on the road with your RV's. Each spring or summer we ask your help in getting the word out about this free newsletter and our free web sites at www.rverscomputerhelp.com and www.rvinginfo.com. Our newsletter and web sites have grown by leaps and bounds over the years, much due to our readers spreading the word. Word of mouth is an excellent way to alert others, you can also help by printing our flyer and leaving it on bulletin boards or in the offices of RV parks that you visit. You can see and print the flyer here, www.rverscomputerhelp.com/computerhelp.jpg

All Programs Menu

When you click on the Start button and choose All Programs, do the listed Programs take up your entire screen? Also if they do and you add a Program, it probably does not have room to show up on the screen. Well there is a way to solve this by making your Program menu scroll. Here is how:
  • Right click the Start Button and choose Properties.
  • Make sure you are at the Start Menu tab and click Customize in the lower right.
  • Click the Advanced tab and scroll the menu in the center of the window until you find Scroll Programs.
  • Now put a check mark next to Scroll programs and click OK at the bottom of the window. Now when you go to the All Programs menu there will be in a single row instead of the entire screen. You will see a small arrow at the bottom and the top of the row that you can use to scroll the menu.

What is your Internet Connection Speed??

There are many web sites that you can go to and run a connection speed test. Some more accurate than others, but they all can give you a reference point to compare with later. Knowing your connection speed can tell you a lot about your Internet connection and sometimes it will reveal a computer problem, such as a virus or some problem with your computer that needs attention. The time of day that you check your speed can also have something to do with your speed. If you check it at a time when lots of people are using it, it can produce a slower speed. Checking it at different times of the day can give you a good average speed. Then you will have something to compare to when you check it on another day. If the speeds very by a lot, you might want to check with your Internet Service Provider to see if they are having a problem. You can also run your antivirus program or your spyware program to make sure there is not a problem there. Here are a couple speed tests that I like to use. www.pcpitstop.com and www.speakeasy.net/speedtest
