Quick PrintingThere are many ways to print a document, but you can print a document quickly if you put a shortcut to the printer on your desktop and drag a document icon to it, no need to open the file for printing just drag a file to the printer icon. To make a shortcut to your printer, go to the Start button, then Control Panel, find and click Printers and Faxes, right click on your printer and choose Create Shortcut, a shortcut will be placed on your desktop.Another way to do it is to put a short cut to your printer into the Send To: folder. If you don't know what a Send To folder is, just right click on any file or folder and a menu will appear with several options on it, you can choose one of these options to send the item to. Your printer will not normally be in the list, so you will have to create a short cut to it and place it there. Here is how to do that, click on your Start button, then Run and type in "sendto" without the quotation marks, then click OK. Your send to folder will appear, now take the shortcut that you put on your desktop from the directions above and drag it into the send to folder. Now when you want to print something, just right click on it and choose Send To and click your printer shortcut.
New User's TutorialI do not want to forget that we get new computer user's that subscribe to the newsletter from time to time. Here is a very basic tutorial for brand new computer user's. It shows how to use the computer mouse and how to scroll. It is provided by the Washoe County Nevada Library System. Problem ( Screen Saver will not start)Some problems have been reported with the screen saver not coming on if using Windows Vista. It seems that some wireless mouse and keyboards are causing the problem. To find out if this is the problem causer in your case, unplug the usb cord for the wireless mouse or keyboard and wait to see if the screen saver starts, try setting the screen saver to activate after a couple minutes, prior to unplugging the devices. If your screen saver activates, then that was the problem. To solve the problem, go to the manufacturers web site to see if they offer a solution or go to Microsoft support to see if they have a fix. When there, use the search window to search for a fix. http://support.microsoft.com
