What is a Power Brick??

Also referred to as a transformer, an element of the external power supply for a notebook and/or laptop computer, used in conjunction with a battery pack. Since notebook computers rely on low-voltage DC, they need a way to convert the AC from a power source into DC that can be safely used by the computer. The power brick takes the AC voltage and converts it to a DC voltage slightly higher than the battery (the slight elevation in voltage ensures that the battery stays fully charged). Batteries normally supply the safe DC voltage to the portable computer, but power bricks are intended for use in conjunction with or instead of a mobile device’s battery. (Webpedia)

Adding Items to the Quick Launch menu

Those of you that don't know what the Quick launch menu is, look to the right of the Start button and you should see small icon's if the Quick Launch menu is activated. To add items to the list, say a short cut icon that is on your desktop, just left click on it and drag it into the list. A vertical line will appear just before you drop the icon, this will tell you what position the icon will appear in. If your Quick Launch menu is not there, right click somewhere on your task bar, a menu will appear, choose Toolbars and click Quick Launch.

Hide the Desktop Icon Text

If you know what desktop icon opens what program, you don't need the text that appears under the icon. Cleaning the text off the desktop gives it a more appealing appearance. Just right-click on the icon and choose Rename. Now hold down the Alt key and type in 255 on the keypad to the right of the keyboard. You can't use the number keys right above the keyboard, they won't work. If you have a laptop, you can turn on numlock and then use the little number keys next to the regular letters. Now when you refresh the page, the text will disappear. In order to do this on more than one icon, you will need to type 255 twice for the second icon and 255 for the third and so on. This tip will work with Windows Vista also.
