Having help to solve these problems can be a life saver. Microsoft offers something called Guided Help for many of these problems. You can follow the directions to manually apply a fix for many of these, but they also provide free Guided Help software that will fix them for you. Take a good look at the web page to see if you are having any of these problems.Guided help Missing a Newsletter?Every once in a while I will get an email from a subscriber stating that they have not received a Newsletter for a while. Unfortunately there are several things that can cause this, maybe an email server has changed their filtering system or there was a temporary glitch in the sending and receiving process. At any rate, I have no way of knowing if you received the newsletter. The newsletter goes out every week, with the exception of maybe a couple times a year, so if you see you haven't received one for a while, please email me and let me know. I will be happy to send the ones you have missed and I will check to see if I can discover what happened to the missing ones. That required a restart which made everything okay for a while, then it would again freeze. It turns out the processor was over heating because of a defective fan. Now I am usually pretty good about keeping my computers clean in this area, but I have five computers and this one slipped through the cracks. The fan was working sometimes and not other times. When I removed it, I found tons of dust and dirt behind it, I was surprised that it worked at all. A trip to my local computer store, seven dollars later and the computer is now working fine. Of course I gave it a good cleaning before installing the new fan. Here is an article that can tell you all you need to know about keeping this area of your computer clean, Clean your Computer Checking or changing Printer SettingsOne of the most used computer hardware devices is the printer, but it has been my experience that many people don't know what all their printer is capable of doing and don't know that they can change the settings to better fit their needs. To do this, click on the Start button on your desktop, then Control Panel and then Printers and Faxes. Find your printer from the list and right click on it and select Properties. Your printer settings window should open, if not click Preferences and it will appear. Make yourself familiar with the settings by clicking on the different tabs at the top. It would also help to have your printers owners manual near by to explain some of the settings. I am sure you will be surprised at all you can do with your printer.
