Crazy Browser

I just discovered another free browser and I am about to download it and give it a try. I will report on it in next weeks newsletter. I am including a link to it here so if any of you would like to download it and give your opinion, I would sure like to hear it. I will include it in the newsletter so that we have more than just my findings. You can check it out here www.crazybrowser.com/index.htm

Why another browser??

As many of you might know there are a lot of browsers on the market some free, some for a fee. If you purchase a computer, it will come with Internet Explorer, Microsoft's browser and that is fine. Over the years it has improved, but it is much like buying the same brand automobile year after year. If you never try something new, you will never know how what you have compares to the others that are available. The fact that you have a computer, means you are willing to try something new. Am sure you all know someone that is always saying I have no need for a computer, wouldn't own one. That is certainly their right and many of us probably said the same thing until we took the plunge and got one. So if you encounter a free browser and would like to find out more about it, search Google to see what other's have to say. Then make a decision if you want to try it out. I have tried several of them and it seems they are all similar in some areas, many of them have some really good features.

What is the Winkey ??

This question has come up again, so I am including a list that appeared in an earlier newsletter. Most computer keyboards come with a key that has a picture or symbol of a flag on it. This key is called the Winkey. Here is a list of functions that the Winkey can do. You probably will not use most of them, but if you can find a couple useful ones, it can save you some time.

  • pressing WinKey opens the Start Menu
  • WinKey + E opens Windows Explorer
  • WinKey + F opens the Find window
  • WinKey + R opens the Run window
  • WinKey + F1 opens Help
  • WinKey + Break/Pause opens System Properties dialog box
  • WinKey + D brings up the Desktop.(repeat to return to last active window
  • WinKey + Tab flips thru buttons for items on Taskbar
  • WinKey + Ctrl + V raises the Web TV volume
  • WinKey + Shift + V lowers the Web TV volume
  • WinKey + M minimizes all open windows

Put an address window on your task bar

As you know in order to type in an address of a web site that you want to go to, you have to bring up your start page. There is a easier and quicker way to navigate to a web site. Just put a address window on your task bar at the bottom of your monitor, here is how. Right click on a clean spot on the task bar, select toolbars and click address. An address window should appear on your task bar, if it does not look for a vertical perforated line. Place your mouse cursor over it until the cursor turns to a double side ways arrow, while holding down on the left click button on your mouse, drag the line to the left and the address window will open.
