Computer Maintenance
by Larry McLemore

Now you can get Portable Satellite Internet

We all have found out that computers often times do not behave the way they are supposed to. Sometimes it is the computers fault, sometimes it is our fault and very often it is the monster. Don't know what the monster is?? Well I am not sure myself, but I know there is one living in my computer. It is the monsters job to watch activity on the computer and when everything is running real good, it jumps up and causes something to go wrong. You might ask, how did the monster get there in the first place? I know it didn't evolve from the components inside the computer, so it must have been placed there. Who would do such a thing? Could it have been put there by accident? Could someone have done it on purpose? Certainly there are people out there that would love to mess up as many computers as they can. They think this is great fun.

As much as I would like to blame it on someone else, I think it is us who allows the monster in. Maybe by downloading software that is not entirely written correctly or maybe is not compatible with the operating system on our computer. Maybe the downloaded software has a conflict with other software that is already installed. I guess sometimes we will just not know for sure.

The goods news is there are ways to minimize the chances of getting the bad thing in the first place. Here are some ways.

1. Only download software from a source that someone you trust knows to be reliable, or has been recommended by a reputable source.

2. Always run the software through your antivirus program before installing it.

3. Run your antivirus program on a regular basis.

4. If you find you do not want a software program after installing it, make sure it is all uninstalled when you take it off your computer.

5. Do a system search and manually remove remnants that were left behind by the uninstalled program.

Also run maintenance on your computer regularly. Things such as System file check, defragment program, delete the temporary internet files and cookies every once in awhile. Go to web sites where you can run health tests on your computer such as Pcpitstop. All of these things will help you to keep your computer running good and will help keep the monster out.
