Dial Up or Cable
CSP - Mechanical Breakdown protection for your RV, Travel Trailer, and Tow Vehicle! Seven years ago using a phone line to connect to the internet was just about the only
way to do it. The most important thing to consider, was how much am I going to have to pay. We were not thinking so much about speed,
as cost. It was also a time when a lot of free internet service providers appeared on the scene. I think I tried most all of them.
I also paid to have AOL, for a time. That however just didn't make sense to me, when there were so many others that charged less were available.
After jumping from ISP to ISP for a time, it seemed to me that on top of paying for their service I also had to put up
with there ads that they would flash at startup. So I started using the Free services, I figured if I had to look at ads, I would do it for free.
There were other things to consider as well. If you only had one phone line, that meant no one could call you while you
were on the internet. I bet that there are a lot of you that are still using this method. You could also get a extra phone line,
but that would mean paying for two lines. Those being the only real options, we all just settled in and lived with the choice
that we made. Then DSL and Cable came along and we started thinking about speed. The question became was it worth the extra cost
to have the speed that DSL and Cable offered. However for some of us travelers and folks that lived out of the big cities,
even if we wanted the speed, we could not get DSL or Cable. Then to complicate things, along came satellite and wireless.
In our case, we couldn't get those either. It looked like we were destined to be stuck with a dial up connection. Then we decided to
stop traveling for awhile and we are now in a senior mobile home park. Guess what, cable internet was available, the rest is
history. We love having cable, it is really fast and a lot more reliable then a phone line. Now here is the deal, if you are at
a place where you can get cable, DO IT. Consider this, some of my neighbors had two phone lines coming into their house.
Now the cable internet added onto what we were already paying for cable TV, only cost $24 more dollars. Now they were paying
$23 dollars for their dial up connection and another $17 to $19 for the extra phone line. It only made sense to go to cable
internet, disconnect that extra phone line and save about $15 to $17 in the process. Then in the deal they also got the
speed to go along with it, usually around ten times faster then dial up. Now for those of you that are still on the road, (lucky people)
consider satellite for your internet connection. It is not as fast as cable, but it is a lot faster then dial up and you
don't need a phone line either. If you are thinking that you can't get satellite internet for less then a few thousand dollars,
