Drives are used to store data. Almost all computers have at least two drives, a hard drive which is usually designated as the "C" drive and a CD drive which is usually called the "D" drive. Until recently computers also had a Floppy drive that was the "A" drive. The floppy drive has been discontinued on newer computers, because of it's small storage capacity. Now we have Flash drives, Thumb drives that are usually assigned "E" or "F" drive letters. DVD drives are big now, but use the same drive designation as a CD ("D"). The Hard Drive is of course the largest storage drive on your computer, these can be internal or external type drives. The external drive costs more than the internal drive, but it does not have to be placed inside the computer tower and most use a USB plug in.

The same applies to the flash drive and the CD/DVD players. They also can use a USB plug in, that makes it very easy to install and use. So if you are a little afraid to open your computer tower, now you do not have to.
