Adding Memory
One of the quickest ways to speed up a computer is to add more RAM (Random Access Memory). If you remember from past newsletters that RAM is the memory that is used when you are running programs and doing everyday choirs on your computer, it has nothing to do with your hard drive size. The hard drive is for storage of the things that are loaded onto your computer. You can have a very large capacity hard drive and still have a slow computer. However if you increase your RAM or memory capacity, many times you will see an increase in the speed and perfomance of your computer.
Problem is, how do you know what type memory chip your computer takes, or how much memory your computer has now or how many memory slots is on the motherboard. Also it helps to know what motherboard is in your computer. Here is a web site that will run a quick check of your computer and answer all these questions, it will even tell you what your memory capacity is, what your motherboard is and what memory chip is right for your computer. If that isn't enough, they will also show you how to add the memory chip to your computer. They also sell memory chips if you are interested, but just to have the information that their check reveals, is worth the look at their web site.
