Wireless Internet Install

CSP - Mechanical Breakdown protection for your RV, Travel Trailer, and Tow Vehicle!

I think like most people, I was afraid to purchase and install a wireless network. However I found that with Windows XP, it is a snap to do. (It is easy with Windows 98 also) I will outline exactly how the install was for my network. In this example, I will be explaining how to install the "Dlink DI-514 wireless Router" and Dlink "DWL-122" Usb Adapter. I chose this product to install, because I was familiar with the name and the price was very good.

Below you will see a picture of the router and usb adapter. This product works with your DSL or Cable Modem.

The following is a list of a few of the things you can do by networking.

  • The ability for all of the computers on the network to share a single printer.
  • The ability for all of the computers on the network to share one Internet connection.
  • The ability to share files back and forth.
  • Play multi player games.

There are instructions that come with the router and basically all you do is reroute the cable or DSL connection wire that comes from the back of the computer to the back of the router. Then connect the wire that comes in the box to the router, then to the back of the modem. Restart the computer and you are ready to go.

Now you are ready to connect the USB Adapter to the computer that you want to network with. In my case I had the USB Adapter, you may want to use a card adapter if you are networking with a laptop, (the USB adaptor will also work with a laptop). All you do is install the driver that is on the CD that comes with the USB Adapter, then turn off the computer, plug the USB Adapter in a USB slot and start the computer. That's it, you are now networking with both your computers on the Internet. You can now share files, printers and scanners with each other.

The router that is listed above is one of many on the market. You can click on the picture to find out more about it.(Below is a Wireless Cardbus Adapter for laptops)

If you are concerned about ordering off the Internet, don't be. I do it all the time and have never had a problem. In fact my wife also does all of our banking on the Internet. The company that sells the above product is a division of "Office Depot Company", a known and respected company. If you have questions, you can E-Mail Us
